Poinsettia

Tonights card is for two challenges.  The first challenge is on CAS-ual Fridays CFC 169, Off the Edge and the other is The Flower Challenge #6, Anything Goes.

I stamped the Papertrey Ink Poinsettia twice, coloured them with copics and then fussy cut them.  The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp die, Merry Christmas.  Which was then embosed in Hero Arts gold embossing powder.  Kaiser Craft rhinestones were used for the centre of the poinsettia and to give the flower a little more glamour I used Wink of Stella on the petals.

Goodness this is my third Christmas card for the year.  This is quite odd because I usually don't make my Christmas cards until the very last minute.  I am not complaining because if I can maintain the momentum I should have my Christmas cards done well before Christmas this year.  But then again I am not holding my breath.

Foliage

Tonight I have a second card for the challenge on CASology #240, cue word Foliage.

I rarely, if ever, post twice.  But after the last post I remebered this die - Technique Tuesday, Garden Leaves.  I was keen to try it out as I haven't used it before.

The leaves were cut from a panel of bazill card.  I used Distress inks for the shading behind the leaves.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp, Thanks a Bunch.

GingerBread Man

Challenge #238 at CASology this week has the cue word Crunch.  The big question was what did have have in my stash that could represent this?  I finally came up with a gingerbread man.  So here is my first Christmas card for the year.

I have used a digital image and sentiment from Pink Petticoat, which I coloured with Lyra pencils.  The embellishments are Pretty Pink Posh silver sequins and Kaiser Kraft rhinestones. This was then attached to some green card and the whole was mounted onto the base with foam tape.

White Night Ballaarat

I and some friends motored from Geelong to Ballarat to be part of White Night. This is the first time the White Night event has come out of Melbourne to a regional city. Judging by the crowds there, wall to wall people in several streets, the event was a resounding success.

The highlight for me was the Electric Canvas. This used Ballarat’s beautiful heritage buildings to project colourful images.

There was live entertainment both on stage and on the streets. At one point the cast from Cats, which was playing at Her Majesty’s theatre in Lydiard Street, came out in character and interacted with the crowd, to the delight of the children.

Interactive art pieces could be found in some of the little lane ways. The White Knight Messenger an awesome 5.5-metre high interactive archangel roamed the streets.

In Camp Street there was the Ballarat Lounge Cinema. This open air cinema had large lounges and seats provided to watch short films.

And if after taking in all the wonderful activities you were need of a coffee or food, there were a number of food trucks and a lot of the local cafes open until the wee hours.

I hope Ballarat does it again next year. It was easy to get to and the crowd although larger than I had expected was still easy to get around. Well done Ballaarat.
