On a different topic, it's magpie swooping season.  People use different strategies such as fake eyes and spiky helmets trying to avoid attacks..  Expert advise that the best way is to make friends with them.  Apparently magpies can recognise and remember human faces and once you have gained their trust they will be a friend for life.
We have had a couple of magpies visit us every day for quite a number years now and they never swoop us.  They even bring thier babies.  Having magpies sing to you first thing in the morning is a lovely way to start the day.  Recently I found a lovely Facebook page The Magpie Whisperer https://www.facebook.com/themagpiewhisperer/  It has some wonderful videos of magpies.
Today a colleague lent me the book Penguin Bloom - The odd little bird who saved a family.  This is a true story of how an injured magpie chick helps and brings hope to a family whose mother has suffered a horrendous accident.  The book is full of beautiful photographs of the family and thier magpie, Penguin, taken by the father.  I am really looking forward to reading the book.

thank you for dropping by

  3. Cute card, just love this Skye.
So true about maggies, they are really lovely Aussie birds. I have several that go to the front water fountain and sit and sing and you know they stay there when I go out and 'sing' with them... also with the kookaburra, I have one that always sits on my fence but they can become very territorial but this one is gorgeous.

May look into the book too I have heard it is a true story so may be lovely to read.xxx [aNNie]

  6. I love the colors of your card! The purple really makes the green monster (who is very cute!) pop from the background. The splatters on the white oval look fab too also and add a lot of interest. Great work! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!

  8. I love that you've used a coloured base and layer for your white space. The colours are great together and I love the splatters through the aperture.
