In the Garden.

Hello,

I am on leave this week.  So today was nice not being ruled by time.  I even had a sleep in, luxury.  I took the dog for a nice long walk and that was nice, usually it's in the dark and rushed.  After that it was back in side and turn the heater on.

Yesterday afternoon I had a friend visit.  She has a new job that requires lots of travelling so we don't do coffee any more.  After catching up with all the news we had afternoon tea.  I decided that the pretty dainty tea sets that I never use would have an airing.  We drank Dilmar Rose with French Vanilla tea.  Very nice.

Today I have a card for the challenge at Lili of the Valley - In The Garden.
Supplies:  Pink and white card, American Crafts Dear Lizzy design paper, Lili of the Valley image, Martha Stewart punch, Lyra pencils, Fiskars corner punch, Ribbon and flowers

I have only just received my first Lili of the Valley stamps.  So I was keen to ink them up.  I like this image of a girl with her dog - best friends.

I used this weeks I Spy Sketches sketch challenge.
and will also enter the card in -
Creatalicious Challenges: Challenge #35 "Anthing Goes"

Drama, Murder and Love

I used to read all the time but in recent years the amount has dropped to almost nothing.  So one of my New Year resolutions was start reading again.  Writing them up and putting them on my blog is one way of keeping me on track.

I have just finished reading some books a work colleague lent me.

The Narrows by Michael Connelly.
This is one of detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch series.  Not a bad read but I think there have been others in this series which were better.  This book seemed to be tying up loose ends and I found the ending unsatisfactory.

PAST THE SHALLOWS by Favel Parrett
The story is set in the wild and beautiful south east coast of Tasmania.  At first I thought it was a story for adolescents.  But as I progressed I became riveted.  By the end I had to finish it in one sitting, couldn’t put it down.  This is a story of loss, vulnerability, secrets and the love of brothers.

This is Favel Parrett’s first novel.  I hope more stories will follow.

The Many Conditions of Love by Farahad Zama
This is the second book in the series set around a marriage bureau.   This is a quick and pleasant read, a good story.  It was interesting to read of everyday life in modern India.

Some of the reviews report that the first book one is better so I will try to get the first book - The Marriage Bureau for Rich People.

I have also had some books from the library.

Death of a Snob by M. C. Beaton.
This is number six in the Hamish MacBeth mysteries.  I have read some of the Agatha Raisin series written by M.C. Beaton but not the MacBeth series.  This is an enjoyable story.  The main character, Constable Hamish MacBeth, is a charming Scottish policeman very likeable even if he is a bit of a lad.  This story is set on the wild windswept island of Eileencraig rather than Hamish’s usual setting of Lochdubh.  This was a pleasant easy read.

I used to watch the television series, Hamish MacBeth, back in the 1990s with my then young son.  Robert Carlyle played the character of Hamish Macbeth.  It was nice, non-confronting, family entertainment.  The series is back on television again.

Fluffy

Hello,

I know last night I said I was off to make a birthday card with pearls, but as you can see that isn't what happened.

Here is Fluffy.  Don't you love him?

Supplies:  Red, white and blue card, Pollycraft image, Hero Arts sentiment, Lyra pencils, VersaColor ink pad and brads

As you can see no pearls, instead I made a card for the challenge over at Less Is More  - Red White and Blue CAS card.  This challenge is to clelebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee.  I have nothing regal or Queenie but lately I have been trying to make more male cards.  The colours red, white and blue lend themselves so well to a male theme.  When I saw Fluffy I just knew he would work with the colour scheme and as they say the rest is history....

Pollycraft is closing on the 8th June and there is  an amazing incredible sale.  Fluffy is a digi stamp from Pollycraft and he is just one many adorable monsters found at Pollycraft.

Well I am off the make a birthday card with pearls.

Thanks for dropping in.

See you later
